Stillman Dairy Farm is a fourth-generation family farm. The milk our herd produces stays on the farm from start to finish. We milk the cows, process and bottle the milk, then sell it right on the farm. This means you know where your milk comes from, and the family that works to make it happen.
Our cows are grass-fed. They graze on our open fields, and eat hay and silage grown here. We grow 100+ acres of organic grass to feed our herd. Our cows do a great job at converting all the nutrients found in grass into a delicious glass of milk for you. Grass-fed milk is higher in Omega-3 content, has higher levels of conjugated linoleic acid (a good fat that helps reduce the risk of cancer and heart disease) and is higher in vitamin E. Compared to average (Holstein) milk, Jersey milk contains 15–20% more protein, 15–18% more calcium and 20% more butterfat. This gives our milk a richer, creamier taste—noticeable even in our skim milk.
We DO NOT use any artificial growth hormones on our cows. We never have and we never will. We grow our own feed WITHOUT any artificial fertilizers or pesticides. We fertilize only with our own cow manure. We even sell composted cow manure in the Springtime for use in your own home garden.
There used to be a time when everyone drank local milk, and knew where their food was coming from. We are trying to bridge the gap, and connect everyone a bit closer to their food. Getting milk from Stillman Dairy Farm is an opportunity to enjoy local, every single day.
